ITINERARY

 

DAY 1 WELCOME TO BOGOTÁ 

Assistance at El Dorado airport and transfer to the selected hotel.

In the afternoon, take a panoramic tour of the historical center of the city. Visit the Colon Theater, San Carlos Palace where the Chancery works, San Ignacio Church, Nariño Presidential Palace, Bolivar Square, the Capitol, the City Hall and the Primada Cathedral. Visit the famous Gold Museum. At the end of the day, ascent by cable car ride to Monserrate Hill, where you will appreciate a magnificent view of the city.

Return to the hotel.

DAY 2 SALT CATHEDRAL – ZIPAQUIRÁ (B/L)

Breakfast at hotel.

In morning hours, we will give start to the Salt Cathedral tour, located at 49 kilometers from Bogota in the town of Zipaquirá. On the way, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Sabana countryside and the Puente del Comun. At the arrival you will visit the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, a structure built 180 meters deep within the salt mines and considered as the first wonder of Colombia. Inside the Salt Cathedral, you will visit the Stations of the Cross, the Dome, the Narthez labyrinth and the three naves. After visiting the mine, you’ll take a short city tour around the colonial town of Zipaquirá and have a typical lunch in El Portico restaurant in Chía (includes a starter, main course, dessert and a soft drink). The restaurant is known for its original and signature recipes based on traditional cooking. The menu is part of the “Slow Food” movement (well elaborated, careful and slow preparation). Today it has a wide selection of wines and the menu evolves with different propositions for the Argentinian Festival in the months of May and June. It is the ideal place to enjoy an exquisite meal with a good wine and nice company.

Return to Bogotá.

DAY 3 PEREIRA (B)

Breakfast at hotel.

Transfer Hotel – El Dorado International Airport.

Flight Bogota – Pereira (Additional Cost).

Reception and transportation at Matecaña International Airport – Hotel.

In the afternoon we will start the city tour, visiting the historical center of the city, Bolivar Square, the Cathedral, El Lago Park, shopping streets where we can see the popular trade of the region. Transfer to visit the most representative bridges of the city such as the viaduct and the Helicoidal Bridge. Photographic stop at the top of Boquerón at the London House Restaurant where you’ll get a beautiful night view of the city and a refreshing coconut lemonade. Later, you will visit Haciendas Castilla via the Romelia a historical and emblematic place of the region. Transfer to the city taking the residential sector of Alamos, the commercial area (Zona Rosa) where we stop at Fonda La Ruana, here you will taste the typical liquor of the region. Visit the mall and have some free time for shopping (This last visit depends on the departure time).

DAY 4 COFFEE PROCESS AND TYPICAL CUISINE TOUR (B/D)

Breakfast at hotel.

In the morning we will visit the San Alberto Hacienda, where you’ll have an introduction to the process of coffee and an interactive tour through the coffee plantations. Visit the threshing, toasting and packing facilities, with an explanation about the origin of coffee and coffee preparations.

In the afternoon, a typical cuisine tour will be held at the Hacienda Castilla, you will be explained step by step the activity and the tasks to be completed will be given in paper. Private transfer to Pereira market plaza. Following a grocery check list provided by the guide, guests will get at the market plaza what they need to execute the activity; the guide will pay to the sellers and assist you along the way. Once you are done, you will be transferred to Hacienda Castilla where the chef will be welcoming you. The chef will interact and guide you through the cooking of Colombian typical food. At the end, there will be an appraisal of the task and the best chef will be rewarded. Afterwards, guests are able to eat what they prepared accompanied by natural juices and coffee. There is a place in the Hacienda designed especially for this activity.

DAY 5 WELCOME TO CARTAGENA (B)

Flight Bogotá – Cartagena (additional cost).

DAY 6 CARTAGENA (B/D)

Breakfast at hotel.

In the morning, start with a panoramic tour of Bocagrande (modern area of Cartagena) and Manga neighborhood where you will appreciate republican architecture. Then, visit to the Monastery and Church of La Popa. Visit to the fortress of San Felipe de Barajas, the most important historic military fortification of the city designed to defend the Cartagena from pirate attacks. Continue to Las Bovedas to do some shopping and take a walk through main streets and squares of the Walled City.
In the evening hours enjoy a carriage ride; an excellent way to visit Cartagena from a different and relaxing point of view. The sound of the horse’s hooves in the alleys of the city is incomparable and the romantic look is exquisite. The carriage ride takes 30 or 60 minutes and can accommodate up to four people. This tour starts at the Marina Park. The journey ends with a dinner in the Santísimo restaurant (includes: first, second and dessert).

DAY 7 MAJAGUA ISLAND (B/L)

Enjoy the day in the Island: The Natural Park of Islas del Rosario is an archipelago made up of 27 islands, located 45 minutes from Cartagena. The hotel, San Pedro de Majagua, is located in Isla Grande and owes its name to Pierre Daguet, a French painter who in 1955 created his house and studio in this location. Here, you will enjoy the beach and a delicious lunch with lobster.

Return to Cartagena.
